Mike and I have been hard at work on Echo Rift for more than six months, and we are so happy to finally unveil what we expect to be the coolest and most fun comic about a dimension hopping Rabbitoid Knight that you’ll find anywhere.

Echo Rift is the story of Hurry, a Rabbitoid Knight from the “L Dimension”, and the Chester family. This story chronicles their adventures in outer space and across dimensions, in their quest to save the Earth (and possibly all of time and space).  We can’t wait to introduce you to Max, Crash, Molly, and Horace Chester — but first we thought it was important to have you meet Hurry and his best friend, a living starship called Ollie, to gain some context for the adventures to come.

Echo Rift reflects the fun adventure aspects of Lost in Space, the crazy anthropomorphic action of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the family relationships and fun of The Incredibles.  A new page will be posted every Friday.  Echo Rift is geared toward all ages – and we mean that – we aren’t using all ages as code for “a children’s comic”.  We intend the stories to be just as compelling to a third grader as they are to his or her teacher.

If you like Echo Rift, please be sure to re-tweet, re-share, and re-blog our site with everyone you know!  Mike and I are both active on Twitter, Google+, and Facebook – please come find us.   And of course, please leave comments and let us know what you think.  We ask that you remember that this is a website intended for all ages, and that many children will be reading it.  Please be mindful of language and content when you post.

Where is Echo Rift?

Echo Rift is a big science fiction/adventure story about a family from Earth, a Rabbitoid Knight from another dimension, and his talking starship.  This graphic novel is about humanity: love, justice, honor, loyalty, brotherhood, fatherhood, motherhood… familyhood!  Echo Rift is a complete story, one written with a beginning, a middle and an end.

Our goal is to produce something beautiful and relevant – something readers will love – an original graphic novel that will blow your doors off and excite and engage you like a comic book should.

Excited by the prospect building an audience, we decided to start publishing a little stand-alone story called Epilogue in October, 2011.  Our focus shifted from producing something beautiful to producing a something that was on time.  This included an effort to make pages work a week-at-a-time.

Though we are both pleased with the level interest that Echo Rift received, we weren’t happy with the quality of our product or the deviation from the original goal.

So we’re working with The End in mind.  The End is a beautiful, engaging graphic novel.

How will Echo Rift re-emerge?  Follow our progress on GarveyConnelly.com to find out.
Between the two of us, we have years of business experience.  Not only will we spend time on this blog showing off what we’re working on and encouraging feedback, but we’ll attempt to provide some business perspective to the indie comic publisher – a gap that we believe needs to be filled.

Stay tuned, dear readers – the best is yet to come.

Greetings, Echo Rift readers!

There isn’t going to be an update today, as Mike and I are working through some quality related details regarding the Echo Rift pages we produce.  We’re also going through some changes in how Echo Rift will be produced and released to the reading public.

We have huge plans in store for Echo Rift, and we have many exciting details and announcements to make in the coming weeks.  Thank you for your continued support!

Today’s sketchbook is more about final design. Mike developed Hurry’s uniform, and then we had to figure out his color scheme. All along Hurry was green and yellow, but we needed to see what other colors would have looked like. Though it’s neat to see these other combinations, I think we made the right decision.
